How I handle your personal data, in plain language.

In short
MartinHols.com is run by Martin Hols as part of The Arrows, an event photography business in the Netherlands. I am the controller for the personal data described in this policy.
I keep this list short on purpose. Here is everything I collect, why, and for how long.
Most of my work happens at festivals, shows, sports and corporate events where many people are photographed. The organiser tells visitors that photography takes place, usually through signs or the terms of entry, and I work to the organiser’s brief.
I mostly photograph atmosphere, crowds and performances rather than individuals. If you recognise yourself in a photo on this site and you would rather not be there, email me and I will take it down within 5 working days.
I don’t sell photos of identifiable people to third parties.
Under the GDPR I need a reason to use your data. Mine are:
Only where needed to do the job: my hosting provider, email and calendar provider, the platform I use to deliver photo galleries, and my accountant. These parties handle data on my behalf under agreements with me.
I don’t sell data. Where possible, data stays within the EU. If a provider is outside the European Economic Area, I rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are useful. It only loads after you accept analytics cookies in the banner, and I do not use it for advertising or sell this data. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Without your consent, no analytics cookies are set.
Access is limited to me and the people who help me on a job. Devices and accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication, the site runs on HTTPS, and photo files are backed up.
You can ask me, at any time, to:
Email me and I will answer within one month.
I would like to solve any problem with you first. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
If I change something important, I will update this page and the date at the top.
